MJ Church operates a full apprenticeship programme across the business which includes operational, commercial and administrative apprentices, and all levels up too higher and degree apprenticeships.

Emma Benson joined MJ Church in July 2018 as an administrator in the Health & Safety team after completing her A levels. Emma decided that she wanted to go straight into the workplace. There were a number of apprenticeship opportunities available to Emma and, fortunately for MJ Church, Emma decided to take up the role in the Health & Safety team. “I knew I would feel comfortable in the environment at MJ Church due to being brought up in and around the haulage and construction industry. What has been great is the variety of work I get involved in from organising the CSCS training and plant operative card renewals to working on Health & Safety Audits. I’ve learnt so much in just a short period of time, the on-the-job learning really suits me.”

Emma is on a two-year Higher Apprenticeship, with a Level 4 in Business Administration course with Wiltshire College and University Centre. Being part of the Health & Safety team has also meant that Emma has undertaken specific training for the role including NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety, First Aid at Work and Asbestos Awareness with further health & safety qualifications planned for the future.
