A charity race day organised by MJ Church has raised an amazing £36,000 for The Forever Friends Appeal’s Cancer Care Campaign for the Royal United Hospitals, Bath.
In its third year, the event saw 176 attendees from 15 companies enjoy a day at Bath Racecourse with the aim to dig deep and raise money for the local charity. Carol Heneghan, Business Development & Marketing Manager at MJ Church, said: “The MJ Church Charity Raceday is our most successful fundraiser during the year, the response this year has been tremendous with our largest ever amount raised at a single event. The MJ Church and Forever Friends teams worked very hard to make the day extremely entertaining and fruitful for the Charity. Thanks to them along with our guest presenters Matt Powell and David Flatman, both for their lively entertainment and encouragement of bidders during the ‘Money Can’t Buy Experiences’ in the charity auction – the eight items raised over £15,000 bringing the total to £36,00 for the day! Thanks to all those who attended and for their generosity with very deep pockets. We are pleased to say that we already have bookings for next year’s event following such a successful day”
Last year, the Appeal were pleased to welcome MJ Church as one of the charity’s Principle Corporate Partner and will receive a specialist area named after the company in the new Cancer Centre.
Back in February this year, the Appeal announced it had reached the minimum fundraising target of £8.5 million. But, stressed it will continue the Cancer Care Campaign as many of donors and supporters wanted to keep going to ensure the new Cancer Centre would be truly special in its design, facilities and equipment.
Tim Hobbs, Head of Fundraising, The Forever Friends Appeal said:
“M J Church have supported the Appeal for many years and the Race Day is another of their extremely successful corporate events! I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank Paula, Mike and the team at M J Church, not only for this incredible recent donation, but for their kind and continued support of the Appeal. The astonishing amount raised at the Race Day means M J Church have raised over £100,000 towards the new Cancer Centre, which is absolutely stunning. We really are truly grateful. The Appeal has currently raised over £8.8 million for the new Cancer Centre and it is very much hoped that with the help of donors and companies like M J Church, we will be able to get close to £10m.”
